I have a 2000 Jaguar XJ Vanden Plas and would like to know how to check the transmission fluid if it needs to be changed and how to add more if necessary.
Answer:Start engine, keeping transmission in park. Open the hood. Near the back of your engine bay (close to the bottom of your windshield) should be a dipstick, probably with a red handle. This is your transmission fluid dipstick. You may or may not have to flip the handle up to pull it out of it's tube. Pull out the dipstick, near the end of it should be some hashmarked areas with "Full" and "Add". If it's at or near full, leave it alone. If it's just below full, and your engine hasn't warmed up yet, leave it alone. If it's at Add, look into your owners manual to see what kind of ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid) your Jag requires. Purchase it at your local auto parts store or dealership, along with a small funnell. Again, with the engine running and transmission in park, remove your transmission dipstick, insert the funnell, and SLOWLY add the correct ATF. Maybe a fourth of a quart between inserting the dipstick all the way in and checking the level. When it's within the "full" zone, close it all up, and pat yourself on the back for having done something that most Jaguar owners simply leave to their butlers to do.
I bought a 2004 Jaguar XJ (first year of this version) pre owned in early 2007 at the depreciated value , it has given me nothing but issues, especially with its taillights, which are supposed to last for a long time. I like large sedans. So, Iwas thinking about trading it in for the large Volkswagen Phaeton, you can get very good deals on them since they didn't sell well. Maybe it was my fault for buying a model from the first year it came out, but it is a nice car in a good price range and so is the Pheaton. So if anyone has experience or know enough about the Phaeton, can you give me some advice as to what I can do. Some people have suggested just trading it in for a new Altima, but i don't like those. An they cost pretty much the same with the depreciated value.
Answer:do they even MAKE the Phaeton anymore? If you're looking for a good full size sedan with lots of guts, comfortable, nice looking, good mileage, etc consider a 1 or 2 year old Avalon. They're basically a Lexus ES350 without all the glitz. You can find them for around $24K used with about 20,ooo miles or less. Whatever you do, you should dump that Jag. Riding the bus is more dependable
Does anyone know the song used in the Jaguar XJ holiday commercial. The ad is for the 2006 holiday season and shows that Blue Tooth, Ipod and all this other stuff come with the Jag for a limited time only... I have looked everywhere but I can not find anything on the music. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ministers get to choose between the two for their official transport - as if there's a question - i'd take the Jag. can you imagine any other country where the offer of government cars included one that wasn't even made there?
Answer:They usually choose cars that are made in their country, however, there are always exceptions, like Russia president's official car is a Mercedes, but it's just because Russians don't make cars that wouldn't fall apart in a week:)

Picture Link. http://www.flickr.com/photos/2341213/2191170831/ Thanks. How much steering wheel fluid is enough?
Answer:Cap 1 is the power steering, 2 brake ,3 oil, 4 coolant. Unscrew the cap and there should be a dipstick attached to the cap with high and low marks top it off just on the High mark. If it is real low have the lines checked for leaks. I've seen a few Jaugar lines leak, pretty common. You can also use a power steering supplement if the pump is noisy or any minor leaks plus, it lubricates all internal steering components for better performance. Make sure you don't overfill it though can cause some unwanted issues.
